What is Kenpo Karate?                         

Kenpo Karate is an art created by ancient Samurai Warriors of Japan, to deal with the most severe self defense situations.   It is the only self defense art taught today that is designed to protect the individual by any and all means necessary.  Kenpo, by its powerful philosophy and devastating hand techniques, enables the individual to use enough force necessary to dissuade, disable, injure, or neutralize the assailant.

Tracy Kenpo is nothing more than a scientific organization of the Kenpo techniques which the 21st Great Grand Master of Kenpo,James Masayoshi Mitose taught to his students, notably William Chow. William Chow in turn taught Ed Parker, who in turn taught theTracy Brothers, Al, Jim and Will.

The Tracy Brothers, as much as possible, have kept the techniques of Kenpo exactly as they were taught to them, and demand that they be executed with power and focus. The Tracy's also organized Kenpo, by naming each of the techniques and ordering them into course requirements for each rank. This was unheard of in the early 1960's when rank was often bestowed for athletic ability.

Practical and effective are the words most often used to describe Tracy's style of Kenpo. Self-defense is the main objective of the art, and any and all measures are used to assure the outcome of any assault.

In 1963, Ted began his study of Martial Arts at Tracys Kenpo in San Jose, California.  He earned his first black belt in 1968, and his 9th degree black belt on June 21 2008.  While continuing his study at Tracys Kenpo, he earned the distinct title of Chief Instructor.   Some of the more notable students Ted has taught include Jay T. Will, who was inducted into the Black Belt Hall of Fame, and Ray Arquilla, World Police and Fire Champion.

In the early 1970s, Ted was a member of Tracys National Fighting Team, once lead by the legendary Joe Lewis. Tracys National Fighting Team was known for their aggressive fighting style, and their distinctive black and white checkered gi tops.

Ted served in the United States Armed Forces, and was a member of the San Jose Police Department.   While at the San Jose Police Department, Ted was an undercover Narcotics Agent, and a member of the Police MERGE/SWAT Team.
